Natural hair birthday slay-final look

What’s more amazing than everything coming together in your favor for your birthday? Absolutely, nothing! January 18th, turned out to be a great hair day and an even better birthday. The day was filled with lots of love; demonstrated through phone calls, text messages, social media posts of happy birthday wishes and, to top it all off, a surprise romantic weekend getaway planned by my husband! I’m actually still floating on cloud nine from the joy experienced on my birthday. And, I got so many compliments on my hair this weekend! Check out the step-by-step details on how I achieved this beautiful natural hair birthday slay! For this look, I used my all time favorite hair mousse. Click the link to read my reveiw: The Doux Mousse Def Texture Foam. This product can be used alone or you can pair it with a leave-in. Here I used it alone.

  1. Mist hair with water, then add two pumps of Mousse Def Texture Foam to each section. A little of this product goes a long way. It also dries very fast; so be prepared to move quickly.

2. Flat twist one side of your hair with three flat twist (two on the side and one in the back). Flat twists give me more definition at the root, but two strand twist give me more definition along the twist. This is why sometimes I use a combination of both in my hair.

3. Two strand twist the other half of your hair using 1 to 1 1/2 inch sized sections. I also twist my hair in the direction I want it to fall. For example, if I want my hair going forward, I twist it forward.

4. Once hair is dry, carefully unravel each twist. For best results, give your hair ample time to dry. I typically let mine dry while I’m sleeping which is anywhere from 4 to 8 hours.

5. Carefully unravel the flat twists and pull the two side unraveled flat twists back and upward (adding the loose ends to the opposite side. Secure with 3 to 4 bobby pins.

6. Fluff hair until desired look. Be careful not to fluff too much. This can cause you to lose definition and gain frizz.

And that’s how you make your natural hair slay on your birthday. What’s your go-to natural hairstyle for your birthday?
