Why cut when you can faux! I love the versatility of natural hair! It can be worn in so many different styles; especially if you have a decent length. I like the look of tapered natural haircuts, but I know that I would probably have “buyer’s remorse” soon after cutting my hair. Some Naturalistas love the carefree freedom that shorter hair brings and I’m here for their happiness. Me on the other hand; I like how many different ways I can style my hair when it has a little length. It is nice that I can go from a formal updo to a hip funky look, like I did with this faux hawk! I love to match my hairstyle to the occasion and the way I’m feeling at any given moment. A change of hairstyle can make you look and feel:

  1. Younger or older
  2. Fashionable or unfashionable
  3. Calm or stressed
  4. Formal or informal
  5. Sexy or …well, you know

  1. First, mist hair with water and add quarter sized amount of True by Made Beautiful Nourishing Leave-In Conditioner throughout hair. This a great lightweight product. It helps to make my 4c hair easier to manipulate. This product also adds great softness and manageability to my hair.

2. Second, smooth hair back on both sides of your head and pin back with 6 bobby pins on each side. I typically pull my hair back slightly past my ears. I find that this is the best position to put the bobby pins and get a great mohawk look.

3. Third, shape and fluff hair into desired look. The key is to make the hair look neat without looking too uniform. Finally, you have achieved a faux hawk! If you’d like to read about how I keep my hair healthy, click here.
