Did you know that different hair requires different technique? There are some things that we all must do in orders for our hair to thrive. Natural Hair 101: Becoming Hair Goals, outlines some of these.
For a typical twist out, I usually only use a leave-in and a styler with some type of hold. With this particular twist out our How Natural Beauty needed a little more hold due to the thick density of her hair. Hair that is thicker and has more of a cottony texture will require products with more hold. So ideally a cream styler and a gel/mouse would produce great results.
For this particular twist out, we used Curls Creme Brule Curl Cream as a leave-in, Curls Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Jelly as a styler, and the Doux Mousse Def Texture Foam to add a bit of extra hold. Checkout the step-by-step tutorial below:
- Section hair in 1 1/2 inch sections, spray with water and detangle with a detangling brush.
- Add dime sized amount of Curls Creme Brule Curl Cream as a leave-in throughout each section with a detangling brush.
- Add a nickel sized amount of Curls Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Jelly to each section and brush throughout each strand with a detangling brush.
- Add a 1-2 pumps of the Doux Mousse Def Texture Foam to throughout the strands of each section and twist, twirling the last 1/2 inch of the hair
- Once hair is dry, carefully unravel each twist.
- Separate each twist 1-2 more times and fluff until you get you desired outcome. Be careful not to fluff too much.
As you can see different hair requires different technique. Now our How Natural Beauty has definition for days!
